Top Soccer Cleats in 2021

Whether you play soccer in a professional football league or are part of a local group that just enjoys occasional games in the park, having appropriate gear can improve performance and greatly limit the possibility of injuries. Determining the ideal shoe for you will be dependent on several factors. The primary concern would be the surface you play on. For instance, there are firm-ground shoes that have hard plastic cleats and then there are grass field and soft-ground shoes that have metal studs to provide better grip on soggy grass and muddy fields. In the middle of these two are multi-ground shoes that are good for both, firm ground or turf. Another type of cleats are indoor shoes that have flat bottoms with just a little bit of stick and tread, nearly the same as basketball shoes.

After you have determined what surface you would be playing on, the rest is entirely up to your personal preferences. For instance, some people would prioritize the quality of the material, while others might be more focused on getting the best fit and highest comfort level. Synthetic shoes may provide a lighter feel than leather ones, however they don’t last as long as leather ones. A pair of good, solid leather shoes might last more than 4 to 5 seasons, while synthetic shoes may only be good for one or two seasons.

Getting the right soccer cleats can definitely help you step up your performance and give you superior support, feel and traction. Therefore, it is advised that you spend some time on figuring out the cleats that would enhance your performance on the field and help you charge towards your next goal.

Adidas X Speedflow (Messi)

Adidas released these outstanding signature boots in honor of Lionel Messi, the Argentinian’s first outside Barcelona, under the name of ‘Messi Unparalleled’. The pair of shoes are part of the FIFA inspired ‘Numbers Up’ collection and feature a print with the words ‘Messi 100’ all over the top. These cleats are the player’s first Adidas X-based signature model since the sporting giant decided to discontinue the Nemeziz line, earlier this summer.

The Adidas X Speedflow Messi ‘Numbersup’ shoes come in a unique color combination of purple, yellow and pink. The element that stands out the most in the graphic design of the cleats is the all-over ‘Messi 100’ print in a retro-futuristic font. The text ‘100-Messi’ is also contained on the instep, along with an Adidas logo and the numerical for the speed of light ‘299 792 458 (m/s).

Other interesting features for the Adidas X Speedflow Messi 2021 boots include the Carbitex carbon fibre insert and raised forefoot, the Adidas Primeknit collar, the textile upper portion, an outstanding 3D mould heel, Stabilizing Agilitycage and a Laser-cut TPU cage.

The shoe was released on September 27th, 2021, slightly later than usual and retails at 250 USD.

Adidas Copa 20.1 (Sergio Ramos)

In what was a shift from the usual, Sergio Ramos seems to be moving away from Nike and towards Adidas in his recent appearances on the field. After returning to training post-injury, the Madrid captain was seen wearing the Copa 20.1 from Adidas, as opposed to his usual Tiempo.

Let’s take a quick look at the Adidas Copa line that has gone through several major changes in recent times to remain more current and updated. The new Copa 20.1 is an exceptional pair of shoes that has modern improvements and elements, while still remaining true to traditional aspects that make wearing a Copa so special.

The Copa 20.1 features a complete leather upper that is very soft and padded for maximum comfort. At the same time, the shoe feels light and flexible, while moulding to your foot easily. The leather exterior is beautifully crafted, along with a synthetic knitted collar and sole plate construction. The collar itself is relatively small but still provides enough stretch to give comfort around the heel area – the part of the shoe that can cause a bit of chafing or rubbing. As a result of these features, what you get is a super snug feel around the top part and a free and padded feeling for the rest of your foot.

Adidas Copa Sense.1 (Manuel Neuer)

Manuel Neuer, the Goalkeeper for Bayern Munich wears the timeless Adidas Copa Sense.1 soccer shoes in the 2021-2022 season. The Adidas Copa Sense.1 is a solid pair of shoes, built keeping Gen Z in mind, being the answer to the synthetic generation. The shoe imitates leather, but is largely synthetic in its construction. It sports a sleek look with a low volume upper and features a new ‘wave’ aesthetic. The wave design stands out in bronze, at the heel end of the shoe and truly looks like a piece of art.

It must be noted that this Adidas Copa is not a classic leather boot, with only the forefront being a leather part. If you look closely at the boot, you can see that the forefront has a notably different texture than the rest of the shoe – it looks smoother, while the midfoot area has a spotted texture, as a result of the foam underneath.

The Adidas Copa Sense.1 provides an elegant, yet highly cushioned fit to ensure maximum protection against high-impact areas. TOUCHPODS have been inserted along the lateral and medial parts of the foot, where the toe joints would be, to make sure that these areas absorb impact when kicking or moving around. The shoe also features SENSEPODS around the heel and Achilles area to provide lockdown capabilities. Another type of padding that the shoe features are SOFTSTUDS, which are the white studs you can see in the Copa Sense.1.
